JONESAPALOOZA

If you've lived in Vernon for a while, you may have heard of Jonesapalooza. For years I opened up my home on Dixon Dam Road in the BX for one big summer night. It had live music, food trucks, dancing and a huge crowd of friends, all raising money for a good cause.

How it worked

Jonesapalooza started as a party for family and friends and kept growing. Every year followed the same idea: throw a great party, and make sure the whole night gives back. Guests donated raffle and door prizes, and the food truck proceeds went to the cause.

Jonesapalooza 2023: the last one at Dixon Dam

The 80s-themed Jonesapalooza on Saturday, July 15, 2023 was our final party at the Dixon Dam house. The band Feet First played live, everyone ate from the food trucks and danced, and every guest contributed to the raffle and door prizes. All food truck proceeds went to the cause too. By the end of the night, the group had raised just over $2,800 for The Emily Dahl Foundation.

No Jonesapalooza was complete without great live music, and in 2023 that was Feet First, a popular rock band from right here in Vernon. Locals may also have caught them downtown at the Civic Sounds concert series in 2023 or at Lake City Casino Vernon. Want to hear them? Check out Feet First on ReverbNation. From Dixon Dam to East Hill

In 2023 I sold the Dixon Dam property and moved into East Hill, the neighbourhood this website is all about. The big backyard parties took a break, but the spirit behind them didn't. It's why I love a neighbourhood where people know each other, look out for each other and show up for each other.

Thank you to everyone who came, played, cooked, donated and danced over the years. You made Jonesapalooza what it was.
